After a single year at University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the production Pericles at the world-class, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the role of lead. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. Contractor was offered the opportunity to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, where a select eight men as well as four women can be accepted for a 20-week crash course on the classical stage that she was eager to take. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She received the role in Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
